About this work
A large stemmed wine glass filled with wine dominates the lower half of the sheet, casting a long shadow. Around it, loosely drawn nude women appear in a standing back view, a full-frontal standing pose, a reclining figure with closed eyes, and two smaller seated figures at the lower right; sprays of bell-shaped lily flowers are scattered through the composition, and the word 'SEX' is inscribed beside one face.
Shading is concentrated almost entirely in the glass and its cast shadow, rendered in tight parallel hatching, while the figures and flowers remain open contour line with little modeling; the abrupt scale shift between the oversized glass and the small sketched bodies gives the print a dreamlike, playful eroticism.
